Stretch marks, also knows as striae, aren’t really anything to worry about. They’re a form of scarring leaving the skin with an off-colour hue. Over time they diminish, but don’t disappear completely.
If you’re noticing them on your body, you’re not alone. Most girls and women have them, they are the pink, red or purple lines that appear most often on their breasts, thighs, hips, and butt. Extreme weight loss can also leave us with them. After a while, they change color and become whitish, pearly or greyish. Many women get them during pregnancy. Stretch marks are more common in girls, but guys can get them, too.
Bodybuilders are prone to getting stretch marks because of the rapid body changes that can go with bodybuilding. People who use steroid-containing skin creams or ointments (such as hydrocortisone) for more than a few weeks may also get stretch marks.
There are various natural products that can help reduce stretch marks and lighten them if not make them disappear completely. However, it requires a regular skin care programme and strict discipline.
Here are a few effective home remedies to reduce stretch marks :
1. Cucumber and Lemon Juice
Lemon juice’s natural acidity helps heal and reduce scars and cucumber juice provides the cool soothing effect leaving your skin fresh.
– Mix lime juice and cucumber juice in equal parts, and apply the mixture on the affected areas till it gets soaked up by the skin. Let it be on your skin for approx. 10 minutes after which you can rinse it off using warm water.
2. Castor Oil
Castor oil is used frequently to treat skin diseases and hair fall. It contains ricinoleic acid, a skin-conditioning agent that fastens the healing of stretch marks and makes them appear a lot lighter.
– Warm the castor oil slightly and massage it on the stretch marks for 15 to 20 minutes.
– Do this every day before going to bed.
3. Best Solution For Stretch Marks
– 1 egg yolk
– 2 tablespoons St. John’s oil
– 1 tablespoon burdock oil
– 5 drops of lemon juice
– 5 drops of tincture of calendula
Whisk the egg yolk, and with constant whipping / mixing add first St. John’s Wort, and burdock oil, and finally the lemon juice and tincture of calendula.
Well combine all ingredients, and with broad brush applied to the skin on the stretch marks affected places, leave to dry for 30 minutes and take a shower with warm water. After showering put the thin layer of cream for skin regeneration or some nutritious body milk.
The treatment applied twice a week.
